The first ever CUBO Awards, sponsored by ULiving and in partnership with University Business Magazine, will be presented at the black tie dinner on Wednesday 20th June on the end of the first day of the CUBO Annual 2012 conference at the University of Edinburgh.

There will be 6 awards celebrating outstanding commercial achievement within the higher education sector:

Commercial University of the Year
Business Manager of the Year
Best Student Housing
Innovation Award for Excellence in Student Experience
Business Partner of the Year
Lifetime Achievement Award

If you wish to nominate yourself, or your institution, or a business partner for one of these Uliving CUBO Awards you will need to follow the process detailed on the Nominations Procedure (click to download) document. Please note all nominations must be emailed to awards@cubo.org.uk on or before the deadline of 29 February 2012. No institution may be nominated for more than 2 Awards. The Lifetime Achievement Award will be chosen by an Awards Panel selected by the CUBO Executive and is not open to nominations.

The CUBO Awards Panel will evaluate the nominations and select a short-list of nominees for each category which will be announced by 31 March 2012.

The winners will then be chosen by the entire CUBO membership by voting on a CUBO Awards microsite, developed by Wildfire Communications, which will be open for voting once the short-listed nominees have been announced.

Don't forget to add the CUBO Summer Conference, to be held at the University of Edinburgh from Wednesday 20 to Friday 22 June, to your 2012 calendar. Bookings information will be available on-line shortly.

In the words of Peter Church, Director of Commercial Services at the University of Essex and the CUBO Executive Officer responsible for the Communications Portfolio: ‘this annual event will enhance recognition of the contribution of business leaders and commercial partners within universities by their peer group, will raise their profile among key stakeholders including Vice-Chancellors and university governing bodies, and will become a focal point for the expansion of CUBO as it seeks to extend its networking and knowledge exchange across all UK universities and colleges'.

The CUBO Awards will be organized in partnership with University Business magazine, for whom Duncan Wilde, Commercial Director, commented: ‘we are delighted to be partnering with CUBO for the Awards ceremony. There have been a number of significant developments within the higher education industry in recent years and it is definitely time to reward those involved. The six Award categories are close to the heart and ethos of University Business, so we are looking forward to giving the winners the recognition they deserve.'
